President Trump criticized NBA star LeBron James on Truth Social this week over James's conduct during the national anthem, according to The Hill. The reaction centered on the anthem played before the Philadelphia 76ers season opener at Madison Square Garden, where cameras at the game showed James during the anthem, the outlet reported.

The Hill reported that Trump wrote that James "disrespects our Country" while the anthem was played. According to the same report, cameras at the game showed James swaying rather than standing still.

Fox News reported that Trump called James a "total disgrace" in a Truth Social post that focused on James practicing golf swings during the anthem while wearing new Philadelphia 76ers gear. The outlet framed the post around the team's debut.

The accounts differ on what James was doing during the anthem. The Hill described cameras showing him swaying, while Fox News described Trump's post as citing golf swings. Fox News's headline characterized the moment as antics during the 76ers debut, while The Hill's headline said Trump called James a disgrace. Neither excerpt says whether James or the team responded to the criticism.

Both outlets describe the same Truth Social post and the same game. The Hill's article was written by Dominick Mastrangelo, and the Fox News excerpt reviewed for this report did not list an author.

The material reviewed for this report consists of headlines and excerpts, so details beyond those excerpts are not reported here.
