BIDDEFORD - The Biddeford, Maine, office of Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) was hit with red paint on the night before Election Day, Fox News reported. The outlet said the paint carried the message "BLOOD on her HANDS," and it described the incident as the second vandalism at the office in a month.
The Hill reported that a federal constituent service office of Collins was vandalized overnight for the second time within the last two months, as the incumbent winds down a tight race to hold onto her seat. The outlet said photos obtained by NewsNation show red paint was used to write "blood on her hands." Rebecca Beitsch wrote the report.
The two accounts differ on the time window. Fox News described the vandalism as the second in a month, while The Hill said it was the second within two months. The reports reviewed for this story do not reconcile the two descriptions.
ABC News reported from Maine, where Democrats are trying to unseat longtime incumbent Republican Sen. Susan Collins. In a video report, ABC News said Will Reeve reported from the state on Election Day.
Neither Fox News nor The Hill identified who was responsible for the vandalism in the reports reviewed for this story.
