According to a report from ABC News, Juan Carlos Ferrero is joining Ben Shelton's coaching staff for the 2027 season. The report describes Ferrero as Carlos Alcaraz's former coach, a description that places his work with Alcaraz in the past. The headline of the ABC News story states that Shelton has added Ferrero to his coaching staff.

ABC News framed the move as an addition, and its summary does not list the other members of Shelton's coaching staff or say how many coaches work on it. The summary also does not describe Ferrero's specific responsibilities or his title.

Neither the ABC News headline nor its summary gives a start date, contract length, or reason for the change. The only time reference in the material is the 2027 season, the period the report says Ferrero will join.

ABC News did not include a statement from Shelton or Ferrero in the material available for this story. The summary also contains no comment from Alcaraz or from anyone connected to his team.

This account rests on a single ABC News report. No other outlet's coverage of the move was available for this story, so every detail here comes from that one source. The report's headline and summary are the only text used.

For readers following the coaching decisions of Shelton and Alcaraz, the report offers the basic fact of the hire and little beyond it. Any further information would need to come from later reporting.
